Middle East Petrochemical Plant Stops Methanol Evaporation & Corrosion

Heat Related Chemical Evaporation Solved
A large petrochemical facility in the Middle East needed to significantly reduce vaporization of methanol inside storage tanks. During the warmest months, the ambient temperature could get to 55C (131F). When Methanol reaches temperatures in excess of 33C (91F), it begins to evaporate. Traditional insulation could not be used due to the high humidity in the region and they also wanted to prevent corrosion on the tanks and avoid CUI.

Nansulate™ High Heat insulation coating was used on the exterior of the tanks as an effective thin film solution which was highly durable in the demanding environment. It reduced the heat from the sun to the interior of the tank, keeping the product inside cooler and stopped the methanol vaporization.
