Insulate Industrial Ovens

Insulate Industrial Ovens for Maximum Energy Savings

One of the “hottest” areas of interest for energy savings using our Nansulate™ EPX-H2O coating is on large commercial and industrial ovens. Often these types of ovens are nearly impossible to effectively insulate due to their size, close proximity to other equipment, and the doors on either one or both ends that need to continually open and close.

An issue related specifically to insulation in food manufacturing facilities is that they can’t use anything that might contaminate their products, so fibrous insulation is out. Syneffex™ coatings offer a clean, water-based, and non-toxic way to insulate their baking ovens, as well as other types of equipment.

We’ve been privileged to see the smiles on the faces of facility managers when they realize we have an easy solution for oven insulation that they can actually apply themselves. Our coating has been utilized to insulate ovens that are used in the manufacturing of aluminum, rubber gloves, to clean large equipment, and more.

The spray-on process of the Nansulate™ EPX-H2O means that application is simple and can even be done while the oven is hot and operating. Multiple benefits include:

  • Reduction of heat loss
  • Energy Savings
  • Can be used on doors without interfering with their opening/closing
  • Reduce heat radiated from oven into the work environment
  • Lower surface temperature to a safe touch for personnel safety
  • Lasts 10+ years with no maintenance needed

Types of Ovens that Can Be Insulated with Nansulate™ EPX-H2O:

  • Drying
  • Curing
  • Drum Warming
  • Extrusion
  • Food Processing
  • Pre-heating
  • Tempering
  • Tunnel
  • General Purpose

A typical coverage is between 3 to 8 coats, depending upon your operating surface temperature. On a heated surface, a coat dries in just 15-20 minutes.

What Kind of Results Can You Expect by Insulating Your Industrial Oven?

Here is an example from two of our industrial oven specifications to give you an idea of what you may expect.

Example 1:

Oven exterior surface temperature before: 350F (177C)

Oven exterior surface temperature after 8 coats EPX-H2O: 173F (78C)

Temperature reduction: -177F (-99C)

Energy savings: 586.09 BTU/h.ft2 / $3,955.86/year for a 432 S.F. oven

Example 2:

Oven exterior surface temperature before: 115F (46C)

Oven exterior surface temperature after 3 coats EPX-H2O: 87F (30.5C)

Temperature reduction: -28F (-15.5C)

Energy savings: 48.08 BTU/h.ft2 / $8,717.18/year for 7,952 S.F. of ovens
